Maddie and Lars met at one of his ski team’s parties during their junior and senior year at the University of Denver. Upon the recommendation of many friends, Maddie was encouraged to come to meet Lars. They were onto something! They were inseparable that weekend and the weeks to come.

Over the course of these few weeks, Maddie and Lars realized this was it. No really…they were talking about getting married a few weeks into their relationship.

Soon after they met, Lars moved to Hawaii for 6 months. Nothing like kicking off a relationship separated by an ocean…but they made it work!

After settling back in to life together in-person, Maddie and Lars had to decide how to navigate a new challenge, COVID-19. They spent the first few months of lockdown splitting time between their families homes in Cordillera, CO and Steamboat Springs, CO.
Thankfully, they really loved spending all of this time together!

After they graduated, Maddie and Lars packed up and drove to the East Coast, where they lived with Maddie’s family, until moving to NYC at the end of 2020. 

This was a major transition for both Maddie and Lars! They were both steeped in school work again, Lars at Pratt, working towards his Masters in Architecture, and Maddie at Columbia, halfway through her Masters in Mental Health Counseling. Despite their demanding schedules they still found time to explore NYC and beyond with their friends and family. 

Over the course of the next four years, their relationship continued to grow, and they even welcomed a new member to their family, Albie!

From the Upper West Side, to Brooklyn and back to the Upper West Side, Maddie and Lars have spent these years building a beautiful life and home together.

When they graduated from the University of Denver, Maddie and Lars had planned to go to Ireland, but their trip was put on hold because of the pandemic.

After years of planning, they finally got to go on their trip in May 2024, and Lars proposed!
